students with quality instruction in the disciplines of Ballet, Jazz,

and Tap. We emphasize proper dance technique, focus, and hard

work while maintaining a positive space free of judgment and

stress where students can build their dance skills, character and

self-esteem. Our curriculum is carefully structured to inspire our

students and encourage them to cultivate and sustain appreciation

and respect for the art of dance

Owner/ Director

Courtney Mattheis

An Amarillo, TX native, Courtney began her dance career at the age of 5 at Hess School of

Dance studying Ballet & Jazz technique. That same year she was invited to perform in the Lone

Star Ballets annual production of The Nutcracker: this is where she would call her "dance home"

for the next 14 years.

At 14, she began teaching and choreographing for Hess

school of Dance. She has danced and cheered (including

teaching both for most of her life!) and has performed in

various dance productions including performances with West

Texas A&M University Dance Ensemble. In 2003 she entered

the Miss Amarillo Pageant, won and went on to compete for Miss Texas.

In 2005 she moved out to Los Angeles where she earned a spot on the Arena Football League,

LA avengers. After balancing careers in both the corporate world as well as a dance instructor in

various locations in the Los Angeles area, Courtney decided to take a leap of faith and open

Courtney’s School of Dance in 2011. Having a dance school that focused on classical ballet jazz

and tap have been a dream realized early on in her life. So often a qualified dance school is not

a tangible opportunity for minority youth, so as CSD continues to grow prioritizing location for

Courtney's School to dance will always take precedence. Further driving home one of

Courtney’s core principles, that classical dance should be available to everyone.

Since the inception of CSD, Courtney has been provided numerous opportunities to contribute

to community events in the south bay and the Los Angeles County. Such events include

providing performance entertainment to the women's health expos of Los Angeles, City

Parades, Chamber of Commerce Back 2 School initiatives, Relay For Life campaigns and.

Swearing in ceremony is on behalf of assemblywoman Hon. Autumn R. Burke of the 62nd

District. In 2012 Courtney was the recipient of Small Business of the Year, presented by Senator

Roderick Wright.

Courtney utilizes her dance school community of families to constantly create awareness and

opportunities to give back. Annually CSD holds drives for Toys For Tots and local Food Banks.

By holding such events helps Courtney, CSD, families and partners of CSD to stay cognizant of

all the fortunate thing is we are able to provide and take part in.

2014 Courtney joined partnership with the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation to

implement a dance program called WE Dance! We dance is a low to no cost dance program

exclusive to families and communities surrounding the numerous city parks and recreations locations.

In 2018 Courtney and her family relocated to the Antelope Valley and currently resides in

Palmdale ,CA. In August 2019 Courtney reopened Courtney’s School of Dance AV in hopes to

Duplicate the successes of Courtney’s School Of Dance Los Angeles. With the well reception from the community and other businesses, she will continue leading the

charge in arts and education by providing classical dance instruction to dancers of diverse

backgrounds. Especially, to those youth who may have never

been afforded the opportunity to get a glimpse into the classical world of

dance.
